Located on the south-western corner of Hyde Park in the heart of Sydney, 133 Liverpool Street is a 54-storey mixed-use development combining retail and a hotel in the podium with a tower form comprising of 169 residential apartments.

The residential interiors have been fully documented by Candalepas Associates, with a ‘light’ and ‘dark’ material palette designed for each apartment type.

The residential interiors are designed to impart an elegant material-palette to convey a sense of luxury that compliments the park side location, while seeking to avoid an overly merchandised and inhuman internal experience. Hardwood timber floors are elevated through a classic herringbone pattern which responds to the structural proportions. Flush timber decking laid on pedestals will allow a sense of continuous indoor and outdoor space to winter gardens with a detail as to flush floor finish that allows a layered experience. Stone bench tops and timber veneer offer a counterpoint to the external materiality – one which compliments and contrasts with the exterior considerations.

Through a ‘whole of development’ approach to the design, the facades have been carefully considered and detailed to incorporate deep reveals which open generously proportioned apartment interiors to north facing views over Hyde Park. The integration of the interior detailing into these deep reveals allow for a sense of repose, quietness, and calm. Through the integration of the architecture and interior detailing there will be a sense that this place has always been and always will be and this should be a settling sense to those that live here. Detail is important and we take care of details that consider people first and the foibles of the current fashion last.

We seek materials that have stood the test of time and detailing that is also familiar to the city. There is nothing new in the materials, there is everything new in how they are placed and how gold is reflected within them to ensure that the building glows.
