The building is made of in-situ poured concrete forms as well as precast concrete forms on a northern façade.
Sun control for the residential units is via massive concrete forms whereby those forms are sculpted to allow winter sun into the apartments and prevent it from entering in summer. All units are cross ventilated and have diagonal city views where the corner units at the top of the building are carved out to allow light and view- entry.
The lower levels of the building are fully glazed for the commercial building with variable sun-control by way of external blinds that automatically operate on a pre-set basis. The lower part of the site is a two storey façade under a glazed awning which allows protection of the street from inclement whether whilst also allowing a fully lit pavement which is unfamiliar in the city of Sydney where awnings exist. |
